If gold plating is done, what type of metal is underneath the gold plating?
The type of metal under the gold plating is 925 silver, and on top, 14-karat or 18-karat gold plating is applied at the customer's request, with a 2-micron thick coating.
What is gold-plated micron?
Micron is the layer of gold plating. There are 1-3 microns of gold plating, the higher the micro number, the thicker the plating and thus it will last better.
Of course, the higher the micron number, the higher the price of the coating will be.
Is it permissible to shower/go into the sea with 925 silver?
It is permissible to enter the sea and shower with 925 silver, but it is not recommended to enter the pool with 925 silver.
925 silver is made of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% alloy of other metals such as copper, brass, etc.
When oxygen/chemicals touch 925 silver, a chemical reaction occurs and the other metals found in 925 silver oxidize, turning the jewelry black and dull.
Therefore, it is highly recommended to shower with the jewelry, but it is not recommended that it come into contact with perfume, chlorine, etc.
Is it possible to enter the pool/sea with gold-plated jewelry?
It is less recommended to enter the pool/sea with plated jewelry in order to maintain the plating properly.
In rings, the coating is less well preserved over time due to friction with the environment and objects, compared to earrings/pendants, which come into less contact with the environment.
